Henle I Puzzle ideas?

I did some research but could only find what I already have from LCII (the puzzle book to go along with that...)
The kids' lessons were greatly enhanced with those puzzles. So I would love to supplement their first year of Henle with puzzles. It makes all the difference at their ages (10, 8, 6).
Thanks again for any advice! You guys are a treasure!

I will be starting to use the Artner's guide this fall. We just about finished SOTW series and we are used the maps and coloring pages! I think we will be ok finding books to go witht he guide..but there are no suggestions where to find maps for each unit. Before I go on and do research on-line, has anyone got any ideas or great sites to check out?
Thanks!!! If not, I will look and post some, if any, that I find.

Suggestions for multiple ages?

Anybody have any suggestions on how to incorporate English, modern, Christian, classical studies into a multi-age format? I am just switching over to LCC from neoclassical and am very much relieved with having fewer "subjects" and more depth, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has a good daily or weekly schedule/plan on how to adapt the schedules from the book to different ages simultaneously? As in, we're all studying Shakespeare (for example) but on different levels, that kind of thing. I have a 3rd grader, kindergardener, 3 yr old, 1 year old, one on the way. Streamlining is a must right now! Thanks!

how about english at multiple levels?

Hi,

Any suggestions for how you teach multiple levels of English studies when you have several students? In-depth reading of the literature selections with 3, 4, or even 5 students (which is what I'll be doing in about 5 years) seems impossible. Math, writing, Latin, and history all lend themselves to enough student independence to be able to move from student to student during these subjects. But I don't see how to do that with the literature selections. I could use some advice from the veterans.

Another history program?

I bought the Artner set from Memoria Press, but I'm not crazy about it. I can't find most of the books in my local library. I sort of like the "workbook" aspect of the other history studies we're doing this year. Any suggestion for something similar in American History?

Latin in the Christian Trivium?/Classical Writing/Iliad

Has anyone here used or evaluated the Latin in the Christian Trivium program? I would be particularly interested in knowing how it stacks up with Henle. My 5th grader just finished LCII but just kind of toiled through the year, not really enjoying it as I wish she would have. I had planned on getting Henle next year, but then ran across Latin in the Christian Trivium on the web. Latin in the Christian Trivium looks challenging, but also more appealing with its emphasis on translation, story line, etc; the books also seem visually appealing. I know that's not everything but it wouldn't hurt! However, I do not want to spend money on a program if it's not academically up to standard. I'd love someone else's input!

Teaching Grammar

Hi. I am interested in hearing from others on what they think, about, teaching grammar with the Shurley English texts. I have heard that they are very good and the kids love the jingles that are used in this curriculum. I would like to hear any thoughts on this subject. Thanks.

Christian Studies schedule

I don't actually have the Memoria Press Christian Studies I book yet, but I do have a couple of questions about it. First of all, I understand the Golden Children's Bible is not a literal translation. Is it more like a story bible? Also, is the focus of the Christian Studies series facts and history, or is it exegesis and application? Finally, I read somewhere that each lesson is designed to be studied over the course of a week, yet the sample schedule in LCC only allots one day to Christian studies. Could the crux of the material for each chapter be studied in one sitting?

progym without a curriculum?

hi,

i was wondering if anyone has tried teaching the progym on your own, without classical writing or classical composition? for example, do you think it would be possible to teach the progym using frank d'angelo's "composition in the classical tradition"? thanks.

LCI - what do you study each day of the week?

Hello,
My name is Regina and I HS my two ds, 11 and 6.
We are finishing up Prima Latina with the 11ds.
We do the lesson on Monday, work pages on Tuesday and Wednesday,
then we kind of let it go...we do recite the prayers we've learned, but we
have never done recitation?
What am I supposed to be doing each day to make it "stick?"
He complains that he does not remember the vocabulary and we barely know
