Howdy from Texas

Hey, everyone. My name is Jeff, and like Drew I'm an at-home dad who is homeschooling his kids -- ages 7, 4, 3, and 7 weeks.

The two books I use to help me decide curriculum is the WTM and the LCC, though in terms of schedule, I haven't decided which program to follow. Since my oldest is only in 1st grade, I'm not too worried. I am, however, hoping the 2nd edition of the LCC will give me a better idea on how to use the LCC with a big family.

I'm also engaged in a long-term self-education project . . . which you can read all about here: http://schoolingmyselfintheclassics.blogspot.com/

Anyway, glad to be here. My oldest is somewhere between 1st and 2nd grade, and I have a couple of questions I'm looking forward to discussing with you all.

Glad to see you, Jeff!

Thanks for linking to your new blog. I miss the old one!

-Drew

Focused Blogging

The problem with the old blog was that I hoped it would be more of a personal blog, but as I worked with it I realized the last thing I wanted was a blog just about me. Also, I found that it interfered too much with trying to write. So I zapped it.

I have, however, been thinking of starting it up again -- the URL is still available -- and if I do, I'm going to make it just about homeschooling. Focused blogging is much better than open-ended let-it-all-out blogging, me thinks.

If I do get the homeschool blog up and running, I'll let you know.

Howdy!

Jeff,

I'm also down in Texas, near Dallas as a matter of fact.

My wife handles most of the day-to-day on the homeschooling front, but I'm responsible for curriculum research and supplemental instruction.

Our oldest is just getting started with Phonics, but we're looking forward to the next few years.

Cheers!

Close to Dallas

Chris,

I'm pretty close to Dallas. I grew up in Richardson and now live in Wylie.
