Saints' Lives

I'm looking for a nice collection of saints' lives for Christian Studies this coming year. My dd reads at an advanced level for her age, so material above the primary level is preferable, but I'm hoping for something that doesn't go into too much detail about the gory aspects of the martyrs' deaths.

Has anyone seen this collection?

Any others you can recommend? We've already read almost all of Tomie dePaola's saints' lives and loved them. TIA!

Drew, around here we like

Drew, around here we like Amy Welborn's books: THE LOYOLA KIDS' BOOK OF SAINTS and ditto HEROES.

Also a hit w/ my kids is 57 SAINTS. We often pick one story from this book and read it over the course of a week.

Thanks, Melissa!

I was able to find these through our library system, so I'll give them a look. I love Amy Welborn's blog, so I'm really looking forward to her books!

we have

once upon a time saints by Ethel Pochocki... I definitely think it would be fine for your DD...
The books are small... probably 6 " by 8" at the most. The type is clear, the pictures are black and white.
I'd say the language is simple, but I have enjoyed the stories.

And I don't know if you are interested, but they are about to release a liturgical study using picture books:

another set of books

Just want to mention that I really like a series of hard-covered Saint books called "Along the Paths of the Gospel." There are about 8 different ones & they are published by Pauline Press. One place I know that carries them is www.emmanuelbooks.com.

HTH!
