Does anyone do science?

I just started home schooling my son this year and I found out that he really loves science and I really do not love science. And he especially loves hands-on science--not just reading books about science stuff. Does anyone use a science textbook at the second grade level? Do you use a book that includes experiments and real life observations? I'm not sure how to tackle this one.

science experiments

Hi! Have you ever heard of the book Adventures with Atoms & Molecules? I am using it once a week with my older boys (3rd grade & Kindergarten). It is a book of fun chemistry experiments for elementary kids using things you normally have in your kitchen. My boys love it. They get so excited when it's experiment day. I also have an Usbourne science encyclopedia they can look at if they want to -- sometimes the older one does, but not much. I think Adventures has more than one book because mine says book one on it. Anyway, I like it because my science-person husband is always saying science is about asking questions, and each experiment has a question to go along with it, that you answer afterwards. "Can you turn a liquid to a gas?" Things like that. And it also explains it afterwards. (mostly for non-science me!) Good luck!
