Modern Studies Redux
What to do? Churchill's wonderful History of the English-Speaking Peoples is out of print again, and as fine as the books are, I can't in good conscience suggest that homeschoolers pay the outrageous prices currently being asked on the used market. If you own a set or can find one cheaply, enjoy it. But if not, read on.
After much searching, I have settled on a new recommendation: The New History of the World by J. M. Roberts. While it lacks that inimitable Churchill style, it is a solid world history spine. A less expensive Penguin paperback edition is also available.

I found my copy of Churchill at a used bookstore for $1/book -- and they're in great condition. Can't beat that!
