School Year Reading
School year reading, anyone? I just read over last year's summer reading plans and that got me thinking about reading during the school year. Do any of you have time for reading during the school year, or is it just an educational focus? I have to admit that my reading is done in spurts. I either read like the Dickens or have quite a dry spell. I also bounce all over the place. I read a compilation of the writings of George Washington and now absolutely adore him. My favorite quote was when he was trying to spur his officers on and he told them to, "Exert yourself to manliness!". I'm going to try that on my husband when he doesn't want to mow the lawn. :D
I started reading Who Killed Homer? and loved it. I got sidetracked, though, with latest novel in the Eye of the World fantasy series by Robert Jordan. (I know, from the heights to the depths. Sigh.) I want to read Climbing Parssanus (sp?) but have been a little discouraged by his tone in the little snippets I've read here and there. I should do it, though. I have all these books I feel that I should read even though I would rather not. I will. It's the literary equivalent of eating my veggies.
Fulfilled Journey, autobiography of A.E. Wilder-Smith was addicting. He was not a great writer, but was a brilliant, sweet, noble, and simple man who adored his wife and the Lord Jesus Christ. (And science!)
This past Christmas my brother gave me The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. They were excellent and I had never read either.
That's all I can think of reading this school year, and LCC. But that doesn't count because it's been turned into a manual, underlining, dog-eared pages and all.
I never tire of reading Jane Austen. I think that I also have read and reread every Lord Peter Wimsey novel, don't ya know? Never tire of that Old Etonian. What?
I want to read the rather new book on globalization, can't remember the exact title, Why the Earth is Flat, or something like that.
And I am loving all the great children's literature that I missed growing up!

p.s. Sorry these titles are not italicized, but I have a new computer and can't figure out how to format any of the text when I am posting.
Not to worry!
I just added a comment in the other thread myself.
"Exert yourself to manliness!" I think I need a T-shirt... ;)

Oops
I just now saw the What Are You Reading? thread. I suppose I should have posted there instead of starting a whole new topic. I don't know how I missed that having been scouring the entire website now for weeks! Oops!
Oh well,
