Latin for me?

My oldest is 6 and we just began Prima Latina. I will be learning Latin right along with my dc. In the meantime is there a book you recommend for me, as an adult, to learn Latin? Or should I just learn at the same pace as my dc? I'm willing to jump ahead.

Thanks,
Michele

Do you plan to take your dc though the MP sequence?

If so, you might want to try Henle. It's a very solid, grammar-based program that assumes no previous experience with Latin. (It was originally written for high schoolers.) There are lots and lots of exercises, so you can do as little or as much as you need to get the grammar down. And best of all, there's an online study group with lots of adult learners:

Learning Latin as an adult

Hi,

I am enjoying learning Latin ahead of my kids, and I've already found it to be very helpful in teaching them. My son (7) is just finishing up LC I, but he often has questions that go beyond the scope of the text. Also, to teach my kids Latin to the extent I hope to, I had better get started on my own now! I was blessed to find a wonderful local Latin tutor, and I often do supplemental exercises in Henle. I love the thoroughness and limited vocabulary of the Henle text. I also find the English to Latin translation it requires to be an excellent test of my abilities.

Good luck!

Best wishes,
Jennifer

Henle

I recently purchased the Henle series to work through... and I actually enjoy it. It is much more comprehensive than PL and LC and kind of answers some of the 'whys' that occur :)
