School Name?

We have to register with the state this year since my daughter is turning 7. They require a school name, which can not be changed at a later date. Would you all mind sharing your school names? I'm looking for some inspiration. We've been trying out names for the last four years, but haven't fallen in love with anything.

Thanks,
Jen

Yggdrasil Academy

Yggdrasil is the Norse World Tree. It just seems to fit. We were tempted by several Tolkienesque names, but I think we'll just stick to drawing children's names from his work.

Barefoot Academy for Wayward Boys

Because I don't have to register it anywhere, and it makes me grin.

Caerdroia Classical Academy

"Caerdroia" is a symbol that has mythic and religious meaning to our family. Plus no one can say it or spell it, and we like to watch people try ;-)

We thought about "Jefferson Academy" as we admire Thomas Jefferson; plus my husband's name is Jeff, and we have all sons.

We don't have to register, so we are free to change it on the spot. Some days, I would answer that we are St. Brutus'.

We're choosing soon

This is the first year that I've really cared about finding a name, and I'm still not quite sure why I do. I'm putting out a suggestiion box of some sort, and asking for ideas from the kids and the dad, final decision to be made by September 1. We'll see what happens. I'm leaning towards High Desert Latin School, or Wheat Country School of Latin, or, in general, something that combines our local geography with the concept that we have high academic standards. My kids see the whole idea as somewhat unnecessary and silly.

I have friends that paid a tribute to grandmothers who had been teachers by combining their names. I wish I could remember their names, because they were just odd enough that it sounded like a standard school name named after a local historical figure. Mostly, my goal is to find something that doesn't scream "I am a homeschool!"

School name

Our homeschool group was called "Lighthouse" but we kind of disgrouped. I still use it though when I apply for teacher discount cards at Staples or Office Max! We were a small group and we still get together but not officially.

Our school is called

The Academy of the Eternal Word. My dh came up with it and I really like it.

I was having dinner with my dad and his in-laws one evening and his mil asked me where my dd was going to school. I responded "The Academy of the Eternal Word," and she said, "Oh, is that the Catholic school on the south side of town?" So I guess the name of our homeschool sounds really official! LOL
