How come they never mention how much FUN this stuff is?
I must have been handed the dryest, dullest translation of the Odyssey ever written during my 11th grade year. Either that, or I was "taught" it to death, because I didn't enjoy it much (though that same year I greatly enjoyed Gilgamesh), so I never understood what the fuss was about Homer.
I'm reading the Iliad right now, the Robert Fagles translation. It rocks! I'm reading it aloud to my daughter (age 2.75), and she's been asking for it over Lord of the Rings. (I give her a choice at bedtime of which I read).
I've got it checked out of the library, but I think I'm going to buy it before the year is out.
